Setting up PayFast in PremiumPress
Activate the free plugin, then open your theme’s payment settings and add your PayFast credentials:
- Merchant ID — PayFast → Settings → Integration.
- Merchant Key
- Passphrase — Set the same passphrase under PayFast → Settings → Integration (Security passphrase). It signs the request and the ITN, which posts
Sandbox: use the PayFast sandbox buyer to approve test payments. Recurring plans are billed as a single one-time payment for the initial period — auto-renewal isn’t handled by this integration. Amounts are sent in ZAR with 2 decimals. The plugin requires PremiumPress 12.

What do I need to set up PayFast in WordPress?
You'll need a PayFast account and its Merchant ID, Merchant Key and Passphrase, which you enter in your PremiumPress theme's payment settings. The plugin itself is free for members.
Does PayFast support recurring subscriptions?
PayFast handles one-off payments in PremiumPress. If you need recurring billing, choose a gateway shown under the Subscriptions filter on the plugins page.
How does the PayFast checkout work?
Hosted redirect checkout with a signed ITN (Instant Transaction Notification) webhook that confirms and completes the order.
